Ever since starting my recent job - not going to name any names but it's not the most exciting job a 17 year old can think of, but money's money i guess... - I've been really into Monocle magazine. I'd never actually heard of it before and only really discovered it after being lured in by the interesting photos on the front cover - It was mixed in with TIMES magazine and all the kind of business-y magazines people buy at airports, also the type of people that grunt at you whilst throwing their change onto the counter.
But the moment I started reading it I was blown away with its content, it's pretty much everything thats ever really interested me summed up into a hefty 200 page book; it covers topics on business, culture, art, design, fashion and all the shit in between - most of which is focused towards asia (another bonus)
Another great thing about this magazine is that the articles are actually interesting! The amount of poorly structured articles I read from day to day really grates on me and this magazine is extremely well written and far from boring. Many of the articles in Monocle focus around cultures, bringing recently revamped and regenerated cities into light such as Singapore's new 'SoHo' and Columbia's second city MedellĂn.
I'm not sure if I'm just being slow with this or if its generally a pretty unknown magazine but it's reasonably cheap (only £6 a month) and probably the most interesting thing I've been reading recently. Monocle magazine is fucking awesome and I definitely think everyone should consider grabbing a copy.
